Kathleen Gaetaniello is a highly trained Aveda stylist and colorist for over 14 years. Kathleen is a graduate of the Aveda Institute in New York City. She also has extensive training with Vidal Sassoon and Marlene Weber. She is a firm believer on continuing her education with advanced classes at the Aveda Institute in New York City, and Minneapolis, and the Vidal Sassoon institute in California. Some of Kathleen’s specialties include modern foiling techniques such as Baliage, Color melting and creative color blocking. She is internationally trained in hair and make-up and has been a participant in the Hudson Valley Bridal Shows. Her expertise extends to weddings and all types of special events on and off site. Kathleen’s personal philosophy is a reflection of the Sparx’s Aveda Experience- committed to environmental and animal rights issues and the loving nurturing care of our guests. Kathleen is a family oriented, fun loving Woman.
Olivia Mace is our Junior Makeup Artist who has a discerning eye and has a natural talent for bringing out the best in ones look. She is knowledgeable in the Aveda product line. Olivia brings great joy to Sparx with her cheerful disposition and youthful enthusiasm.
Owner, Patricia Hurst, has trained in England at the London Studios for hair and make-up as well as with Vidal Sassoon in California, and continually updates her technique through various Aveda classes and seminars in New York and Minneapolis. Pat has been in the hair styling business for over twenty-five years, and has had her own salon since 1986. Environmental issues are at the forefront of Pat’s own life and nothing goes to waste at Sparx.
She is passionately devoted to her business, and the manner in which it enables her to be more involved in animal rights and rescue efforts. Pat’s canine “daughter,” Savanna, is our hostess as well as baby sitter and helps provide a warm and loving atmosphere.

At the front desk is Dot, Pat's mom, who says, "It is exciting to work with our young and creative staff, and our clients are the nicest in the world. I think Pat's enthusiasm inspires us all." Dot is our book, theater, and restaurant critic, who will gladly discuss anything she reads in the New York Times. Dot, affectionately known as the “Queen Mum”, is the Salon Coordinator and she and her long time friend Jo are in charge of making appointments and welcoming our guests to our “all that glitters jewelry department”.
